Stuck With Legacy Software?

Keep your business moving while your software catches up. Audit, stabilize and modernize the system you already depend on, without committing to an unnecessary full rewrite.

Discuss Your Project

Scope, price and timing agreed before work starts.

From the problem to a practical fix

Every release feels risky

Map critical workflows, investigate recurring failures and add checks around the parts that matter most to daily operations.

Old versions block new work

Plan PHP and Symfony upgrades around compatibility, dependencies and business constraints. Separate essential upgrades from optional redesigns.

Data and integrations slow the business

Review database queries, data flows and external APIs. Plan migrations and integration changes with validation and recovery steps.

The system has outlived its documentation

Reconstruct the architecture from code, configuration and conversations. Make deployment and maintenance knowledge available to your team.

How we work together

  1. Map the business constraints

Identify what must keep running, who uses the system and which changes are blocked. Agree a bounded discovery or audit phase.

  2. Stabilize before expanding

Prioritize operational risks and critical defects. Define tests, backup expectations and release checks for the first stage.

  3. Modernize incrementally

Upgrade or replace agreed components in manageable steps. Validate changes before release and plan any maintenance windows in advance.

  4. Hand over a maintainable system

Document the changes, deployment process and remaining work. Agree further stages or ongoing maintenance only where useful.

What you take away

  • An architecture and risk assessment of the existing system
  • A phased roadmap with estimates and dependencies
  • Agreed upgrades, repairs or integration changes
  • Verification notes, operational documentation and a handover

Experience with the systems behind the screen

Opcode’s established services include PHP, Symfony, legacy Zend applications, MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker and CI/CD. The focus is production maintenance: preserving business behavior while improving how the system can be changed and operated.

You work directly with Jacek Różański, software developer and architect. The first step is understanding your system and the business decision it needs to support.

Questions before you start

Do we have to rewrite everything?

No. An audit helps compare incremental modernization with replacement. A full rewrite is considered only when the system’s condition and business plans justify it.

Can the application keep running during modernization?

Work is planned in stages to limit disruption. Some migrations may need a maintenance window; this is assessed and agreed before the relevant release. Zero downtime is not guaranteed.

What if the original developers are no longer available?

Discovery can start from the repository, database structure, available diagnostics and conversations with the people who use the system. Missing documentation becomes part of the initial scope.

Can you work with our existing development team?

Yes. The engagement can focus on an audit, a defined upgrade or implementation support. Responsibilities, access and handover expectations are agreed before work starts.
